Field Work

IN THIS ISSUE we have special focus on GREEN SURGE in the field:  Assessment of biocultural diversity across European cities. Within the first project year GREEN SURGE has matured from conceptual ideas to empirical field work. In the following we will focus on field work conducted in summer 2014, related to the empirical investigation of biocultural diversity in urban green spaces. But what is biocultural diversity, why is it relevant, and how can we study it?

GREEN SURGE held its first Project General Assembly in Edinburgh
The project held its second meeting of all project partners, the Project General Assembly (PGA), in Edinburgh during 16-18 November 2014. Over 40 project participants had the chance to meet up, discuss the work in the different work packages, and to get to know each other.

GREEN SURGE in European Commission event on Renaturing Cities in Milan
The Commission’s DG Research held the 2nd of two international conferences on the topic of ‘Renaturing Cities’ in Milan, Italy, on 1-2 December 2014. Following the experiences from the first event in Brussels, focus this time was on ‘Urban Governance for Social Cohesion’.
